Iles Eoliennes - Des grottes sous-marines
La côte nord-occidentale est particulièrement intéressante dans ses endroits sous-marins aussi. La parois de Capo Grosso accueille, à l’intérieur de ses milliers de trous, des repaires pour les poissons, de grandes colonies de Parazoanthus (corail couleur orange), des spongiaires et un éventail bariolé de flore sous-marine qui fait de cet endroit submergé un scénario privilégié par la macrophotographie sous-marine. Au-dessous de cap Testa Grossa, là aussi, une belle grotte sous-marine permet d’admirer, dans son intérieur, un effet lumineux suggestif résultant d’une ouverture latérale.
Une autre grotte près du rocher Quaglietto, qui mesure 10 m de haut, 3 m de large et 20 m de profondeur, accueille des bancs de crevettes et son entrée se distingue par la présence d’un autel portatif tenant une image de la Vierge. Sur la côte de Levante la paroi de la Sirenetta mérite une plongée pour voir de près plusieurs petites grottes au fond jaunâtre de soufre.
