Iles Eoliennes - Les Plages
La plage par excellence est celle du Porto di Ponente, créée elle aussi, comme la plage du Porto di Levante, suite à la formation de Vulcanello. Le charme du paysage est encore remarquable, bien qu’enlaidi par des constructions modernes. Le sable noir est toujours très fin, et la mer est ravissante. Les criques de Mastro Minico, situées en succession au sud de la plage de Ponente, sont particulièrement suggestives et spectaculaires. Une brève promenade permet d’atteindre leurs plages de galets.
Le tronçon de côte allant de la plage de Ponente jusqu’à cap Secco est d’une beauté incomparable, parsemé de petites criques et de pointes merveilleuses. Une fois passé le promontoire de Testa Grossa, on parvient à la Grotta del Cavallo, que l’on peut visiter à bord d’une petite embarcation. En continuant le tour de l’île on peut observer les flancs du vieux volcan primordial, le phare et les rares habitations du point d’abordage de Gelso, désormais en désuétude. On revient donc en direction sud à partir du Porto di Levante, en langeant le cratère de la Fossa.
