Aeolian Islands - By sea
The north-western coast of Filicudi is one of the most spectacular in the whole archipelago. Leaving from the port, you pass by the coves and inlets of Punta Zotta and unexpectedly see some scattered houses that were once used by the farmers who worked on the small plain.
You then pass the crags of Montenassari and La Canna (a basalt rock standing 71 metres high), a little further out at sea, and come to Punta del Perciato, a lava promontory in which the sea has opened a wide passage. If you wish, you can stop here for a swim. Just after this comes the large and very impressive grotto of Bue Marino, one of the most magical places in the archipelago because of the sheer silence and the fascinating play of light on the water. As you continue along the coast, you come to Pecorini a Mare, which is still a fishing village. You make your way back to the port after passing the notoriously dangerous waters of Capo Graziano, where at least nine ships have been wrecked in various periods.
