Aeolian Islands - The climate
The climate of the Aeolian Islands is extremely variable because it is influenced by the flow of air masses in the lower strata and the distribution of atmospheric pressure on a continentale scale. Thus, a north wind on the Tyrrhenian coast brings relatively cold, dry weather, while a phase dominated by a warm, humid wind from Africa (Scirocco) brings temperatures above the seasonal average.
Winds from the west or north-west and Atlantic winds cause unstable conditions with variable cloud cover and possible shower or storms. Such conditions mean that statitics vary considerably and temperatures can be well above or below the seasonal or monthly average.
